Custom Training Programs

Specialized Curricula
In addition to the standardized curricula, ATS Specialized develops and delivers customized programs for all types of organizations and employers. These curricula are developed in conjunction with the employer to focus exclusively on the needs of the employer. Specialized curricula allows us to teach employees on the specific equipment they are using and in the environments they work in.

Curriculum Delivery
ATS will deliver curricula in the classroom, in a lab setting, and in the field. These settings can be either at ATS facilities or the employer’s location.

Assessment
ATS has a variety of assessment methods that include nationally standardized assessments through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), OSHA, MSHA, and through ATS developed assessments. These assessments are objective and quantitative. This allows ATS to maintain consistency in evaluating student performance and achievements. These assessments also allow the employer to evaluate employee skill levels and to assess their own methods of training.

Specialized Crane Operator Training & Certification
ATS also offers specialized crane operator training and certification for employers. This training can take place at an ATS training location or at the employer’s location. ATS has crane operation instructors who travel to remote locations for crane training, testing, and certification. These specialized crane training programs can be customized to meet the employer’s time and cost requirements.

National Commission For The Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO)
NCCCO was formed in January 1995 as a non-profit organization to develop effective performance standards for safe crane operation to assist all segments of general industry and construction. By providing a thorough, independent assessment of operator knowledge and skills, NCCCO aims to enhance lifting equipment safely, reduce workplace risk, improve performance records, stimulate training, and give due recognition to the professional skill of crane operation. The establishment of NCCCO was the culmination of almost 10 years continuous work by representatives of all industries that use cranes. In essence, the NCCCO program was developed by industry for industry, and continues to be supported by it.

Certification
ATS offers nationally standardized, third party certification through NCCER, NCCCO, OSHA, and MSHA; and ATS offers its own certification.

Instructional Staff
The product of ATS is education and training. Education and training is delivered by teachers or instructors. The quality of the education and training is directly related to the quality of the instructors. At ATS, we strive to hire and train the best instructors in the business.

What makes a good instructor?

  • knowledge of the subject matter.
  • experience in the industry which pertains to the subject matter.
  • communication skills.
  • confidence in the subject matter.
  • patience and understanding.

These are the skills and qualities ATS requires of its instructors. In addition to instructor qualifications, ATS maintains a strong in-house staff development program and encourages all instructors to pursue additional education during their employment.

All ATS instructors are certified by the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER), in Gainesville, Florida. The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is a not-for-profit education foundation, Affiliated with the University of Florida, created to help address the critical workforce shortage facing the construction industry and to develop industry-driven standardized craft training programs with portable credentials. NCCER's mission is to build a safe, productive, and sustainable workforce of craft professionals.

All ATS schools also employ a NCCER Master Trainer who has received additional training and certification from NCCER.

The ATS headquarters located in Wisconsin also employs a National Training Director, and National Safety Director who oversees the curriculum delivery and safety practices of all ATS Schools. ATS's National Safety Director also holds Construction Site Safety Supervisor credentials from NCCER.
